God With Us

Posted on December 20, 2021December 15, 2021 by James Williams

The path is dark and lonely,
What am I doing here?
All day long, my doubts grow strong,
I’m blinded by my fear.

My weakness overwhelms me,
My thoughts lead me astray,
Against my sin, I cannot win,
I am not okay.

Can anyone be trusted?
Anger rules the day.
We hide and grin, it boils within,
We stash our rage away.

Peace doesn’t visit often,
She left us long ago,
Love has waned, chaos reigns,
Everyone seems so low.

How can I make a difference?
When it all seems lost?
You give your all, they hope you fall,
Is it worth the cost?

The burden overwhelms me,
I wake up in the night.
A bad nightmare, does anyone care?
Is there any light?

I’m surrounded by the darkness,
Where will hope come from?
The angel sings, good news he brings,
The promised one has come.

That’s why we celebrate Christmas,
God born a baby boy.
He washed my sin and cleansed within,
I’m overcome with joy.

The burden has been lifted,
Peace is finally here,
The child born, he faced the scorn,
To rid me of my fear.

Light has pierced the darkness,
Hope’s not so hard to see.
My praise I bring, now I can sing:
“Emmanuel, He’s here with me!”

Thinning the Peaches

If you don’t trim many peaches off the tree, the resulting fruit will be small and tasteless. Likewise, we have to be careful not to overload our busy schedules which leads to stunted results.
